Get to Know Kate
Kate is our master bed maker, lover all of things organizing, and one of the kindest people you’ll ever meet. She has the rare gift of making everyone feel seen and special, and never passes up an opportunity to have a good laugh. She’s a creative, styling genius, but can also make the most intense, thorough spreadsheet you’ve ever seen. We met as coworkers, quickly became best friends, and now I can’t imagine my life, or this business, without her. Hope you enjoy getting to know her a bit better!
Q: When did you first know you had an interest in interior design?
A: When I was young! As a child, I spent a lot of time in my room decorating, rearranging and rearranging again. I loved to help my mom decorate the house and organize. I didn’t realize that this love of decorating and creating pretty spaces could end up being something more than just a hobby, so it took a long time into my adult years to finally pursue it as a career.
Q: If you could live anywhere else in the country where would it be?
A: The Pacific Northwest of course! I love the blend of the mountains, forests and the ocean in that part of the country.
Q: What’s your favorite trip you’ve ever taken?
A: I went to Germany and France in the month of December back in 2012. It was a such a cool experience to be in those countries during that season, getting to go to the Christmas markets and drink Glühwein in the cold. Something I will always cherish!
Q: What’s your favorite way to spend your free time?
A: Work on a puzzle, go to an estate sale, putz around the house or watch some NFL on a cozy, fall Sunday.
Q: What’s the best show or movie you’ve seen recently?
A: The Holdovers. I watched this movie on NYE and it was great fit for that night and a great story!
Q: Describe your dream home!
A: A livable A-frame that feels like you are in a cabin every day. Add a nice big deck, a kitchen sink station with a view and I’m living the dream!
Q: What’s your favorite part of the job?
A: I love to experience the transformation of staging in a day’s time. How quickly a room’s mood can change and make you feel something is the best part for me, for sure.
Q: What is your favorite staging decor go-to item?
A: Love a good chunky, knit throw. It provides so much texture and makes any bed or chair look better. In addition, I am likely to grab a cutie vintage clock as a bed side tchotchke for every stage, just a fun piece to add for me!
Q: What’s something you’ve learned from starting your own business?
A: To stick with it. It’s amazing to me that we built something from nothing and thankfully because we had each other, we were able to stick with it to see what’s possible and that it can work!
Thanks for making every day a bit brighter, Kate!
